Powdered Milk and Epsom Salts for BER
I've read the older posts that suggest the use of powdered milk and Epsom salts to stop blossom end rot, but I can't find anywhere that tells how much of each. ...so does anyone know how much I should use?
Thanks!

Less than 1/4 cup or a woman's small handful is what I use.LeeAnne12 wrote:I've read the older posts that suggest the use of powdered milk and Epsom salts to stop blossom end rot, but I can't find anywhere that tells how much of each. ...so does anyone know how much I should use?

Pay attention to your watering, keep it steady, but not dry or sopping.LeeAnne12 wrote:I've read the older posts that suggest the use of powdered milk and Epsom salts to stop blossom end rot, but I can't find anywhere that tells how much of each. ...so does anyone know how much I should use?

...so I got my son to pick up the Epsom Salt and it has peppermint extract in it. Will the peppermint hurt the tomatoes? Thanks again!

i doubt it will hurt it, and in fact it might help repel some insects.
Re: Powdered Milk and Epsom Salts for BER
So you combine 1/4 cup each of powdered milk and epsom salt. Is that per plant? So if I had 4 plants I would use 1 cup of each and then sprinkle 1/2 cup of that mixture around each plant and water it in?

Re: Powdered Milk and Epsom Salts for BER
I found this interesting bit of info which I think would apply to MM as it is usually high in nitrogen.
High nitrogen fertilization reduces magnesium availability, especially on
soils high in potassium or aluminum.
This is from an article on grass tetany in cattle:
