Too late for radish in MN?
I have a box with 4 raspberry "stems" in it and it looks like they are not going to make it. I have the front 4 squares empty and I got some free radish seeds with my order and I'm wondering if it's too late in the season to plant them? If it is....what would you suggest that would work to plant? I have a variety of seeds leftover from my main boxes.

How hot is it getting. If still reasonable, then radishes might do. And the seeds didn't cost you anything. If you can provide some shade to that area, try a square of lettuce as well. It might bolt rapidly, but you might get a few weeks of salad. Or see if you can still get kale starts. They like cool weather, but can survive a hot summer with plenty of water. Mine did last year and continued through fall and into the early winter. The actually taste best after a frost.
If hot weather has already set in, then beans or maybe a squash. But do plant something. Don't let those squares go to waste.

Re: Too late for radish in MN?
in my radish-addicted opinion, it is never too late nor too hot to plant a radish. you might not get a good root but you'll get greens and they are very tasty sliced into tacos or used as the crunch layer in a sandwich or as part of a mixed green salad.

Good Idea rowena. We tend to forget that radish tops are edible and have a nice zingy flavor.
