Weather!!!
My garden is going great, 2nd yr.
I am under the 2nd tropical storm warning of the yr. and hurricaine season doesn't start til June 1.
How strong a wind can a garden handle? 30mph? 40mph? Any thing I should do for my SFG?
We are expecting maybe 45mph? At least the drought we had last yr is over, don't have to water much.

We don't have tropical storms here in Colorado
but we do see really bad winds...frequently! Today we are expecting winds of 50+ mph with sustained winds at 20-30 mph. That's not unusual around here on the front range. When my plants have had time to establish, they seem to do fine. Usually! They do take a beating, but survive. I'm guessing it depends on what kind of conditions your plants have been acclimated to.

I'm trying to get my sweet potato vines in a new bed before it gets to a high of 88F... the worst part...right now at 9:45 the dew point is 64F....Blargh!

Way to early for temps like that. Plus you've got that high humidity there...makes me pant just thinking about it.

I am not too far north of you; this is way too hot for May! If I had known my last frost would be April 12 I really could have gotten a head start!

Yes Herblover I hear you. Here I wanted to be safe from cold temperatures and only plant things once. It is currently 93 with a 97 index. Disgusting. The concern from heat and sun-fried young plants haunts me. The increasing cloud cover seems good this afternoon so I ended up covering just one 6 inch baby tom and a 3 inch ground cherry todaysince everything else seems to be tolerating it. But we have a few more days of this heat......think I'll cover everything tomorrow. I don't have years and years of experience. Sometimes I stare at the garden wondering what does it want.
