If you plan to mix your MM from purchased compost, I found another good source for northern Delaware and suburban Pennsylvania:

Terrain on Baltimore Pike in Glen Mills, Pa., carries several Coast of Maine blended compost products.

Delaware Seed on Kirkwood Highway just outside Wilmington has a lot of different varieties as well.

Thanks for posting this to help others! If you ever get a chance, I'm sure folks in that area would like to know
exactly what brands/types of compost are available at those stores.

Terrain has:

Coast of Maine Penobscot Blend with Blueberry, Mussel & Salmon compost mixed with peat

Coast of Maine Quoddy Blend with composted lobster and aspen bark

Coast of Maine Cow Manure Compost with peat hummus

I think there was a fourth kind as well, but I don't remember the brand or type.

Delaware Seed has:
LeafGro
Chickity Doo Doo
Unco Worm Castings
They also had two or three different types of manure composts

I was able to get all my stuff one stop shopping at :

1st State Seed & Garden Supply
950 peoples plaza
Newark ,
DE 19702
Phone:
302 834 0440
Fax: 302 595 2552

They carry both vermiculite and perlite in large bags along with a variety of composts. Can't remember what the prices are off the top of my head but they seemed reasonable.

Thanks for the great tip on the Newark, Del. source. Did they have the coarse vermiculite in large bags?

Delaware Seed had large bags of peat, but only 1 cu foot bags of coarse vermiculite.

If I'm not too busy in the next day or so I'll take a ride up and get a list of prices and products. I can't remember off the top of my head if it was course or medium that they carry. The 3.5 cu ft bags were running right around $35 give or take if memory serves. They try to keep a number of them in stock but they run low. But I get the impression that if you need a lot of anything at one time that they are more than happy to order it for you and that it doesn't take long at all to get it. They also carry hydroponic supplies and the like as well from what I gather.

Some of their stuff is listed on their website but not all of it and the website isn't such a good one but it helps I guess. Some of their compost is listed under mulch and some of it is listed under potting soil. Peat moss is listed under potting soil. But I can't find a listing for vermiculite (or perlite) but I know they carry it in both large and small bags (both).

The website is 1ststateseed.

I've got no affiliation with them I just know it's hard to find vermiculite and these are the only folks in the area that I found that had large bags.
