frozen fruit trees

Now some of my fruit trees really look bad.
They had lots of leaves and buds.

On several of them the leaves looks like they might have frozen, silly trees for getting sucked in by the warm weather.
At least THIS is not my fault

Sorry about your trees. I think your frost moved this way. We had a severe frost last night.
The fruit trees were blooming and now the flowers all look brownish. O wellll........ fickle weather.

How did the rest of your garden fare, or do you have anything planted.
As expected the peas and the Kale and the artichokes did just fine.

Similar to you. The broccoli, raab, carrots, peas and greens look fine. The self sown cilantro bit it. I had hilled the potatoes early and have not checked.
I am guessing I lost the apple and cherry crops.

Aww, I'm sorry about your fruit trees Sad

The weather did a similar stunt in our area last month. Several weeks of really nice weather, then ZAP, frosts and hard freezes for a couple of weeks. My azalea flowers only half survived. The tight buds made it through, but the ones that were starting to open died right away. So maybe if you have some unopened buds, you might still get some fruit. Here's hoping for at least a small harvest.

As for the leaves, don't worry about them. As far as I can tell, leaves are very hardy. They like curl up in super cold weather to protect themselves (or so it seems to me), but as soon as the warmth hits them again, they unfurl and start looking normal again.

I DO think you are right Julie
It really is amazing how different different plants tolerate the cold.
My hoop house is not really very airtight and I have had spinach and cilantro in there for at least a month.
After the bad frost, they look totally fine as if nothing has happened, and the tomatoes have almost disappeared.
