I love your trellis - methinks you might be stringing? Wink That is nicer than what I'd planned....

What thickness of wood did you use and how did you secure it to the box? Since my maters are in the front yard, I'm thinking that might look a little more like a pergola type structure and less like exposed plumbing... Smile (Although I'm a huge fan of PVC...) Smile

Yup I'm stringing my tomatoes I did it last year and had the best
tomato crop Ive ever had. This year Ill be planting 16 plants, all
indeterminate.

The uprights are a 2" x 6" x 10' I had laying around and cut up the
middle the top is a 2" x 4" x 10 pressure treated I bought and the
cross bars are random Ceder parts I had out of some old sliding
closet doors I tore a part and used the skins between my beds as
a weed block and the inner bits for random stuff as needed.
I used eye bolts for the string attachments and regular bolts to
hold the crossbars in place the bases are lag bolts in pre-drilled
holes. I measured marked and drilled the holes then to install the
trellis I put in the top bolt on each side then raised the trellis into
place and put in the bottom bolts.

Thank you WolfHeart!

By the way the box is only 8' long the 10' top bar is so I have
1' off of each end so I can hang some hanging plants off of the
ends to attract bees.

Humm if I use the 2x6 that I have already made "for the tomatoes" for the celery...

and get the hubby to make this awesome thingamajig...for the 4x6 I have ready to fill on Wed...yup may be an idea to save on more tomato cages.

But I have never strung tomatoes. How does that work?

This thread has great information on trellising tomatoes. UnderTheBlackWalnut posted a great YouTube video resource that tells exactly how it's done.

Thanks camprn! The greenhouse is only empty because it was just built. I do have a couple plants in there but they were just waiting for there boxes.

I plant my Toms 1 per square foot so this box will have 16 plants in it.

CindiLou, Stringing Toms is easy I got my info from this video.
