I just started SFG this year. I have raise peppers in planters but me and my wife bought a house and quit renting so now I can do something more permient. I found Mel's book at Lowe's and started during spring break. I am a teacher so what ever I can do to save money is great and I have time during the summer to work in the yard.

My SFG has 52 squares and is set up as a U where 2 sides are 8' and the other is 10' with each side being 2' wide. It then has a 2'x4' center box. I used gravel in the aisles 2' wide. The wife limited the size because we have a small back yard. Hoping to expand a little next year.

I have planted
5 squares of onions @ 9 sets/square
7 squares of bell peppers @ 1 plant/square
4 squares of tomatoes @ 1 plant/square
5 squares of hot peppers(2 jalo, 2 hot banana, 1 habenaro) @ 1 plant/square
2 squares of potatoes @ 4 plants/square
2 squares of canalope @ 1 plant/ 2 squares
1 square of garlic @ 9 sets/square
2 squares of bush beans @ 9 plants/square(I have 6 more squares to plant 1 every 2 weeks)
6 squares of okra @ 1 plant/square
2 squares of carrot @ 16 plants/square
4 squares of corn @ 4 plants/square

Should be a fun year. Growing alot of these for the first time.

Hi killjug.
Welcome to SFG and the Forum. We've got a few DFW SFGers here and most seem to be in Tarrant County. Most of us hang out and swap local info in the Lower South regional forum.
Sounds like you've got a nice set up going at your place. Please post some pics if/when you can. We love to SEE what others are doing. Very Happy
