Matchstick Flower (can't pronounce the real name) - called Matchstick because close up each of the little flowers looks like a hot pink matchstick with a purple head. Took this last week when I was in Panama. Came home to my irises budding, so hopefully they will bloom soon and I can put a flower from my own yard on my avatar!

I hope you had a good trip. We may need a full shot of your avatar, it looks really cool!
+1 - I love seeing full-size shots of everyone's avatars!

May here in New England usually means Lily-of-the-Valley and Wisteria. As well as Dicentra

Here is the flower that made me think of Wisteria when I was in Panama. It is a vine like Wisteria and hangs through the trellis. I have NO idea what it is called!

Googled 'tropical flowering vines' and started searching through what came up! Love the internet. It took me much longer to find the names of the fruits I tried down there!

Re: Monthly Avatar Theme for May: May Flowers
My avatar is a very special bouquet of flowers. Strawberries dipped in chocolate and white bark. My youngest daughter made the bouquet for me for Mother's Day! I have to say this may be my all time favorite!

Re: Monthly Avatar Theme for May: May Flowers
These are the only flowers I could find at my house and I still haven't managed to resize one to put it as my avatar but I thought I would share anyway!
The dwarf tiboucina at the front of my house. My favourite colour, so I love this one!
The gold grevillea at my letterbox
And a red one that's next to my garage.

Re: Monthly Avatar Theme for May: May Flowers
I planted these Mr. Fokker anemone's last fall and have so very much enjoyed them this spring. Very much worth the effort of digging through the root system in an existing mature garden bed to get them in the ground. Fun how they close up at night too.
