Looks like I am going to have some suprises. My youngest pulled down a box of tomato and pepper plants I have sitting in the window. I had them organized and what was what written down on paper but they are all mixed up now. I had some determinate and indeterminate tomatoes in there now planting is going to be a little tricky, ugh.

Peppers, in a Pickle!
Yeesh! I was soooo excited that all my hot and sweet pepper seedlings were looking so healthy! I thought I'd help them along by swapping some of the smaller plants with larger ones in each box so they would not get shaded out... I was just finishing patting myself on the back for being such a thoughtful plant mom when I remembered that when I potted them up I had run out of labeling sticks, so each box of plants was labeled instead so I would still know who was who.... duhhh!!
Hopefully I will be able to distinguish them from each other when transplanting time comes, otherwise it will have to be a surprise - then so much for my 'perfectly' detailed garden plan haha!

Maybe they will declare their type by the time you plant

I'm right there with the mixed up tomato and pepper starts this year. Just this morning I noticed a tomato turning color and was thrilled to see that it appears to be Orange Fleshed Purple Smudge, which was one of my favorites last year. Still puzzling over some white peppers, however.

My latest oops....
I carefully weeded my early bed of all the sprouting red pigweed amaranth...... and all the beets and red leaf lettuce. Thankfully the radishes are too big to make that mistake about.

Yes, so much for the perfect plans... Let's just hope I don't trellis all my bushes, lol! Turan, that's hilarious, I almost did that to some lettuce the other day, hubby said hey whats this popping up and I glanced over reached to pull it and said it must be a weed I haven't planted that square yet, oops, luckily he stopped me and showed me there was 4 of them in a perfect square, I planted it just forgot to check my chart.
this must be what the beets thought!

.... multi-trellis planting system
..... need to remove one of the empty trellis walls for maintenance
..... turn around for tool & cellphone rings
.... answer call, turn back to wrong trellis
..... disconnect wrong trellis
......wrong trellis is loaded with fruit
......hits trellis in front & and destroys 12 weeks worth of toms, three three-rows deep

staci.bourff wrote:My can't believe I done that moment doesn't have to do with gardening, considering this is my first year.
I was cooking dinner before an away soccer game, and was in ahury to get it done before the kids got home, so they could eat as soon as they got home. While I was stirring the BBQ pork on the back burner that was directly behind the macaroni pot that was on high, my loose t shirt that I had on hit the front burner, and caught on fire. I screamed, and quickly turned and turn on the facuet and put the fire out since it quickly bursted into flames.
I came out with no burns, and only damage was the lost of my favorite t shirt that just happened to be my husbands, and my husband got to see my Miss Doubtfire moment.
He came running in when he heard me scream, at least he asked if I was ok before he busted out laughing.
Do I need to add I'm blonde? I have a ton of these moments, but this one has stuck with me for three years, to this day I either hold my shirt when reaching to stir the back burner pot , or tuck my shirt in when I cook.
this is DEFINITELY something I would do!
I should know better than to read this thread at work (I'm on lunch and punched out!). Fortunately everyone else has gone out for lunch and no one is here to hear me snorting and choking!

Doesn't work! I started out as a blonde. After almost 50 years nature has slowly and kindly hidden me as a brunette, so now people have to talk to me to figure out my brain is still blonde!

Went out to pull weeds - asparagus bed has been overrun with bindweed, volunteer sunflowers, and thistles that were blown in and sprouted. Grabbed, pulled, cleared....grabbed, pulled, cleared....grabbed, pulled, that smells heavenly - ACK! THAT WAS MY BASIL! Quickly dug a hole and gently replanted basil. We shall see if it survives.....

Going to the garage because I needed those specific gardening supplies, then standing there with a total blank trying to remember what it was.

Re: Ahhhh, can't believe I just did that...
Oh this is all good reading and some good laughs! A few weeks ago, probably more, I decided to make manure tea but not the right way. I had some hard clumps of last year's chicken coop gunk. I decided to put it in a garbage can that I fill with water and dip my watering can in for quick watering jobs. I dropped the clumps into water and the next day I used some of the water to water some of the plants. They are doing well, btw. I filled it back up and meant to use the rest on the lawn or somewhere and I forgot about it. i was going to put the softened clumps in my composter. The can of "tea" now has a nice green slime on top. I don't dare use it anywhere, because I don't know much about manure tea and what concoction I have made. So there it sits!
Oh, another one (I'm sure I can remember many more). I went to a small garden center and bought a flat of plants. This was when my kids were little (ok more than 20 years ago). I put the flat on top of my car so I could buckle everyone in. You can guess the rest. I was on my way home, made a left-hand turn and the whole thing slid across the top of my car and landed on the street! I think I lost about half of the plants and learned not to put anything on top of the car again!

Re: Ahhhh, can't believe I just did that...
Oy vey. I'm anticipating many "can't believe I just did that" moments as I've just embarked on my SFG adventure. It began with a little mess AFTER I left the garden. I just bought a new hose for the place and attached it to the spicket. I noticed the spicket leaks a bit when on, but I didn't think much of it and happily watered my box. Well the house is about 35 years old and sits on a cement slab, no basement. So there are parts of the house that need some repair. Apparently one of them is the foundation because I came through the side door into my kitchen and was greeted by a massive puddle on the ceramic coming from under my sink. To top it off, my kitty apparently found it delightful and was helping herself to a drink from it. Needless to say, I see another project for DH!!! (starting first with fixing the leaky spicket!!!!)

Belle,
Yes, we all know how much cats like to lap up water, usually only when it's coming directly from a spigot or dripping water of any kind. My Timmy rushes out the front door each morning and happily laps from a muddy puddle created by a nearby sprinkler.
Fortunately, my two felines also use their stainless steel drinking fountain.... It's difficult to keep a cat properly hydrated.

Use the can of "green tea" on your compost pile. It will help kick start it.
As for leaving things on vehicles & driving off I have done that too but have been lucky. I hung a jacket from my pickups side mirror & drove 45 miles home and it was still there. I also had a vet leave a cordless clipper (worth $100+) on my bumper and it was still there when I got home. And I am always walking going into a room and forgetting what I was going to get.

Re: Ahhhh, can't believe I just did that...
hmmm, where to start?!?
I've been told that I SHOULD have been a blond! (Am brunette with only a sprinkling of the brunette remaining under the L'Oreal color). As far as being ready for the hereafter, I ask myself frequently, "What AM I here after??" As I know how to finger-spell in sign-language, I will, usually after the first hereafter episode, will return to where I was, then aaaagh, have to go back. I'll make the first letter of the item I'm going after with my hand and USUALLY return with the item.
I have come home various times to find the husband has trimmed my lilac down almost to the ground - he thought it was a weed, the peach tree hard-pruned - it had fruit on it!!!, and the cord on MY miter saw repaired because, you guessed it, he'd cut it. WITH the miter saw.
But, between he and me, we're still alive, our children have survived into adulthood and our plants are GENERALLY still alive. He DID finally manage to kill my peach tree, though. :-P
And - the kicker - I bought 2 plants at a store - "I" know they're both mini bell-pepper plants ... however, someone mislabeled one as a Cherry-tomato plant!! (the tag was FIRMLY attached, so doubtful that someone switched tags on it!) It seems to be a yellow mini bell. The other is a red mini bell.
