I have a standard 4' shop light that I want to convert and use as a grow light. Pretty sure it has the old magnetic ballast. I was considering buying a couple of T-12s to use, the GE Plant tubes. Are these sufficient? From what I understand T-5s are better, but I don't want to upgrade the ballast to electronic.

Any thoughts or recommendations?

Thanks,
Bill

I use a 'full spectrum' or 'daylight' tubes for the old shop light. Very Happy sunny

I ended up going with one daylight and one plant/aquarium light tube. Potted up my tomatoes, peppers should be ready in another week or two.
