Convert Shop Light > Grow Light

Convert Shop Light > Grow Light
I have a standard 4' shop light that I want to convert and use as a grow light. Pretty sure it has the old magnetic ballast. I was considering buying a couple of T-12s to use, the GE Plant tubes. Are these sufficient? From what I understand T-5s are better, but I don't want to upgrade the ballast to electronic.
Any thoughts or recommendations?

I use a 'full spectrum' or 'daylight' tubes for the old shop light.

I ended up going with one daylight and one plant/aquarium light tube. Potted up my tomatoes, peppers should be ready in another week or two.

How long before you can take your tomatoes from under the lights and mabey put them into the sunbeams in the house?.....or can you do that???
