green sand
can someone tell me...is green sand just plain sand? Why is it called green? I have access to plain sand, but never heard of green sand. Thanks..

thanks for the info...now it makes sense. I read Mel's book pretty carefully, but never found an explanation of green sand.

Some folks just like to add stuff, or some folks may need the micro nutrients if they didn't get the 5 composts... and their plants are appearing deficient in the minerals the green sand has. Those are the only reasons I can come up with.

Green sand
Green sand is, in fact, green. It's mined and packaged in New Jersey by the Espoma company in Millville, NJ, about 40 miles south of my garden. The company makes a variety of different organic and mineral based fertilizer mixes like HollyTone, GardenTone, TomatoTone, etc.
