Watering in Summer - questions Empty Watering in Summer - questions

Every one knows that the best time to water is early morning. And everyone knows that all gardeners are early risers - the worm and all that. However, since my husband and I own a restaurant, we usually get home around midnight, and we get to work around 10:30 - 11 am every day. (Work is where I garden.)

So.....what to do, what to do? I have had minor problems with powdery mildew in previous seasons. Watering at night increases the likelihood of that problem.

Input, advice, suggestions? Which is less detrimental -watering in the heat of the day or at night?

'Martha, the Midnight Marauding Waterer' .... since you're at work, I'll assume you're not out there in your P.J.s, like some people I know!

My preference would be watering late am. Either way, avoiding getting the foliage wet would be a priority. Ya do what ya gotta do, when ya can.

Drip irrigation system on a timer should take care of all your watering needsyou just set the timer (mechanical or digital) for the time of day and how long you want the system to water.

p.s. not all gardeners are early risers lol

Choksaw-you can say that again!!!! the only time my plants are watered in the early morning is when they are watered when I get home from working (graveyard shift-home at around 6:30 am).

The way I figure it, Mommy Nature doesn't always water in the early morning, and many things grow just fine. I'll spoil them when I can, sleep in when I can! Watering in Summer - questions Icon_wink
