Lost to Frost
Anyone else plant seedlings in the beautiful June weather we had in March and then lose everything to the frost we had after that? Grrr! I didn't plant early, but followed the "x weeks before last frost" rubric. Just didn't have new plastic for the hoop houses/frost covers until it was too late. Sigh. On a good note, my peas and onions survived and are doing great. Hopefully I will have time to get the plastic on the hoop houses before the frost that's coming this week.

Re: Lost to Frost
We had a late frost in Alabama last week. I escaped damage by covering my TTs with old blankets.
We're pretty well versed in covering plants with sheets and blankets here in the south.

Re: Lost to Frost
In a frost pinch... sometimes I'll put an overhead sprinkler on plants... The water keeps them just warm enough to prevent damage.
It works for a 29-31 degree low.

Re: Lost to Frost
@laura.....sorry you lost some crops to frost. That's why when you begin to transplant and sow seeds, its best to have your old towels, blankets, frost cover ready as well. You just never know when they'll be needed.
