Hello,

My name is Katie Cunha and I am originally from Michigan but living in East Texas for the next few years. I have read the SFG book and for 2 months now had my own box. I am so thrilled with about how well things are growing since last fall I tried growing in pots which was really frustrating. I am now moving to a new house where I can possibly have 8 boxes. I don't know if I should move so fast. I might try working my way up to that.

Anyone else from Texas (or a hot place) that can give me advice on getting ready for summer heat? I think I will have to make a shade thing like Mel talks about. But when do you put it on? And at what temperature? Do you poke holes in for air?

Also, if anyone has any nice designs for their garden that look aesthetically pleasing I would love to see them for inpiration.

So excited to be a part of SFG and this awesome community!Smile

glad you\'re here Katie!

Most of your questions can be at least partially answered by checking out the regional forums from the homepage. There are several members in the Lower and Coastal and Tropical South who can give you more information about growing in that climate. I'm sure they'll be along shortly. One member, Shannon1, is out for the week, but she grows in Florida and can probably give you some advice. Smile There are some SFGers in the Southwestern Deserts who have to use shade cloth quite a bit too...check out their threads as well. Smile

Also, take a look at the Gallery in the green link above and also the search bar on the upper left for ideas about how others have set up their SFG. Smile

Again, welcome and happy to have you here! Smile
