Does anybody know anything about duck manure? I found a brand of compost that is made with duck manure. Well it's one of the key ingredients. I'm going to find out the percentage of the manure plus other ingredients.
Anyway, has anybody ever used duck manure? I would imagine that it would be pretty useful.

I put some duck manure and bedding in my compost pile. It's not ready yet so can't say if good.

I think I'll take a chance at it seeing as to how it's already composted. Of course if I hear differently before I pick it up at the beginning of May, I'll change my mind

two of my bins have a majority of goose , duck & turkey muck along with their straw bedding .

Looking at my little book poultry/ chicken is given as N 1.0 % , P 0.4 % , K 0.7%

The turkey is given as N 1.3 % , P 0.3 % , K 0.4 %

I'd take the average count of both and suspect it will be reasonable accurate. as there is unlikely to be any fish in it like sea birds guano ( which makes for rocket fuel for most plants ).

Wow ....just googled " what is the NPK of duck manure " and found for composted stuff neat ... no bedding N6 % , P 14 % & K 5%.

The beddding aspect should reduce things considerably but it does indeed seem a premium prod --DUCKED . Wink

I forgot to send Long Island Compost an email asking them the makeup of their composted manure. It would be real nice if they can give me percentages of the ingredients. I'll hopefully call them on Monday to find out.

Talking about fish being in sea bird's poop makes me wish I could get my hands on some seafood compost. I added 10 gallons worth of fresh water fish trimmings to my compost but I would think that fish from the sea has more plant nutrition.

Marine sand eeels were/ still are used to fire powerstations and make fertilizers .. it made big in roads in the predator fishes food chain and upset things.

Do you have a fish counter in any of the big stores.. skirts ( the belly flaps ) off sea caught salmon are good for adding to the compost heap as are any fish guts they take out .. I got a bucket of stuff that was gong out as waste to use as rubby dubby for sea fishing ..

When I go back to the supermarket I'll se If I can get one for the compost heap and freeze small bags of it so I can add a bit at a time to the next set of bins I make up.

Actually there is a seafood processing facility not too far from me(about 45 minutes) that supplies local restaurants and grocery stores with seafood. I bet that I could go in there and ask them for seafood scraps.

Thanks for the idea plantoid!
