I've been turning my compost every couple of days. I haven't taken the temperature to see how it's going, but it seems to be going down. Today I saw that a lot of the leaves look black, not like a wet rotting black, but like it had been burned. Does this mean its composting?

Yay! Thanks! I was hoping but I did so poorly at composting when I tried it about 18 years ago (gosh, am I really that old?) that I'm worried I'll fail at it again this time. It's so much easier when I have people to ask questions about it (I wasn't online 18 years ago :-).
