Re: PVC Watering Grid.
I made the grids last year..with adaptions for the 4x6s and the 2x6. Did not glue together. With the low pressure necessary from the hose they held just fine! I love them and we are going to make the ones for the other beds this winter, ready for spring. Now that we know we want them lol

No Nozzles required.

How do you folks keep the dirt out of the holes when gardening?

The holes are very small. I place the grid on top after I plant the 4x4 box.
If I am only replanting one square, I do not pile the MM over the top of the pipe. Any "dust" that gets into a hole, is apparently washed out with the influx of water.

Re: PVC Watering Grid.
Just an FYI. I switched from the micro heads to the drilled holes and you want to make the holes as small as possible and as few as possible. It changed my pressure settings and I am planning on expanding my system to a larger brass manifold and multiple timers or a sprinkler control system.

Thank you
I so appreciate these directions. I'm new to SFG and have been unhappy with the soaker hose I've been using.

Thank You!
A huge "Thank You" to the OP and everyone who contributed to this idea.
I've been trying to find a project that was easy for my hubby and I to do.
So based on all the great info, we've built three 4x4 grids with one, 5/64" drilled hole per segment. The pressure is great--it's music to my ears! However, I'm growing onions (16 per 1'x1') and was hoping to plug in some mister heads for each of the holes.
Does anyone know where I could find these?? I know the holes are small to begin with, so maybe I could just force bigger ones in, perhaps 5/32"?
I know it has been a while since anyone has posted on this thread, but here's hoping.
Thanks in advance!!!

Re: PVC Watering Grid.
Try online or one of the box stores. However, if you can find 5/32 misters I'd probably drill out the holes rather than "force" one into a hole too small.
Is there an advantage to a mister? I thought it was best to keep as much water off the leaves as possible.

Celtic Green Thumb, Welcome to the Forum from California!
I loved misters for the flower beds but for veggie gardening, it is probably better not to get the leaves wet. Just a thought.

OR...
This topic inspired me so much I did this:
Guess I cant upload a pic from my hard drive - but I purchased the kit from Drip Depot.

Grid Watering
Has anyone set it up for a drip system. What nozzle did you use? I have issues with white fungus on the broad life vegetables. So I going to a grid system, but I don't want to spay the leaves, just water the roots.
Thanks
Lennie

Hi Lenniebrown. Welcome from Atlanta, GA! Glad you're here!
I'd definitely check out the link Sanderson provided. And I know some of the other folks have drip irrigation....

Here's what I did, using PVC to just make a grid framework to support some lengths of irrigation tubing and some micro-sprinklers. I'm in my 3rd year using them now, and I just love them.
