New York Gardeners
Is there anyone out there from upstate New York area? I would love to hear from anyone who is an experienced SF gardener in this area. I got my book and trying to read it to see what I can and cannot do. I started building my boxes, and searching for some MM. I did find a Agway dealer who carries MM for 12.99 per 2 cu.ft. bag. This is kind of pricey but starting this late I figure it will be the easiest way to go. I am starting a compost pile and will be more organized for next year. I will try and take some pictures as I go and will post them on here.

I am in Sullivan County, which is approximately where NY, NJ, and PA meet. Though, I'm actually closer to Delaware County. This is not as "upstate" as you but considering I live in NYC during the week, it is considered "upstate" to me! I've done SFG for a few years now and am always expanding my beds.

Hello NYCQUILTER. Glad to at least here that there are other people from NY, even if we are on opposite ends of the state.

That's actually a good price for Mel's Mix.
If you read the ingredients of the bags of "compost" you'll see that it's mostly cheap peat filler.

I have seen women looking at jewelry ads with a misty eye and one hand resting on the heart, and I only know what they're feeling because that's how I read the seed catalogs in January - Barbara Kingsolver - Animal, Vegetable, Miracle

Hi Rutbuster, I live near Syracuse in Onondaga county. I'm putting together my first SFG this weekend. Where did you find MM??
