I am bending some conduit to support row covers over my raised beds, but I'm not sure whether I should use plastic or floating row cover over the hoops. I mostly want frost protection to extend my season. I work from home and could open/remove the plastic to let in air, but leaving the floating row cover in place sounds soooooooo easy. Anyone know which one provides more frost protection? I'm leaning toward Agribon30 . . .

Plastic will give more insulation, but will be more difficult in the long run.

Why don't you use the product best for the time you need? In the hot of the day during summer, you will not want plastic!

If it is a semi-permenant cover, how about the Agribon, then cover that with plastic when frost is still a possibility?

If you are still concerned about too much cold, I would use clear plastic in the spring to let in the sunlight and warmth, but with vents. You can cut slits at the top on both sides for hot air release. The problem with Agribon 30 is the sunlight penetration is reduced by about 70% and in the beginning of spring I want full sunlight.

But when it warms up, with no more freezes expected, I would cover with the lighter insect row cover, Agribon 15. Lets in the sunlight (90%) and rain but keeps out the bugs. Actually, the lighter row cover is so light, you can remove the hoops and just lay it over the crops themselves.
