Just finished planting a second asparagus bed with Sweet Purple from Nichols Garden Nursery. Near and Dear then asked if one can harvest more than once a year. My thought is, yes, if we harvest one bed in spring and the other in the late summer. Am I correct or wishful dreaming?

You can play with your bed. Pull the mulch away from part of it so that the soil warms up faster and those will come up to harvest earlier than the rest. Once established, the 4th year, asparagus will be harvestable for about 6-8 weeks until weather gets hot and the spears come up thin and spindly.
