Free compost Empty Free compost

I have about half a pallet bin full of mostly finished compost that I would like to offer to anyone on this list who wants it and can pick it up in the next couple of weeks. My garden beds are currently full so if anyone can use it PM me. I am in Bloomington, area code 92316.

It is mostly goat manure with alfalfa hay, plus some horse manure and leaves and household waste (coffee grounds, egg shells, veggies, etc) and thru last fall some milk was added.

I do not have a tractor to load but have EZ haul carts and wagons and can help load but can not get a vehicle in the back yard so have to move it by hand. I have another bin started and want to move this one. I also have fresh goat manure available.

Free compost Empty And speaking of free manure...

Post  Chopper 3/24/2012, 12:34 pm

I wish I had a place for it! Last night I did an egg class (I teach Ukrainian Egg Dying) for a group in Temecula in the horse country part. She has 4 horses now and a dumpster where she throws out her trash and horse manure! I asked her is she ever considered giving it away and it shocked her than anyone would want it. I suggested she put an ad in craigslist. Of course probably not enough people would to keep up with the output but still. If anyone in Temecula is looking I could try to hook you two up. She is in the south end of Ynez.

A lot of my goat manure goes in the dumpster too. I give it away but most people do not want to put out any effort to get it. I have offered it to all the neighbors but the only time they took any was when I rented a skidsteer to clean and dumped to over their fence for them. Another neighbor said he wanted some but wanted me to wheel it out of my yard and into the back of his place. I told him I was willing to put it in muck buckets outside my gate and he could take it from there & bring the buckets back. That was too much work - he only took a couple of buckets.

Once a long time ago I advertised it for free. At that time I had fewer goats & a smaller pen that I cleaned often by forking the manure over the fence. When that pile built up I would fork it into another pile, so this was somewhat composted. One person that came complained because it had too much 'straw' in it. It had no straw - it was waste alfalfa hay!

I always have free goat manure available to people who are willing to help wheel it to their vehicle and help load it. I'm not asking for help doing the actual pen cleaning. Most of the time what I have in the compost bins is what I intend to use in my garden but right now I have extra compost because I want to move the bin.

Wish I wasn't on the other side of the country. I can't clean out pens, but I can tote a bucket to my truck.
