I was so excited to get started yesterday in mixing my MM and filling the box I forgot to put on sunscreen. I am a little crispy today...anywhoo - I had a lovely time, even though I bought the biggest tarp Lowes had (by mistake) the backyard is big enough to handle it. I didn't realize how much mix I would have for just one 4x4 box. And, it is so heavy! DH is definitely helping mix on the next one.
I was able to source the vermiculite at a new location ( how do I post to the spreadsheet?) here in central Virginia, as well as easily sourced all five composts - one mushrooms and one 'livestock, both from Fifth Season Hydroponics, the same as the vermiculite. Then I popped in to lowes for more box building material, peat moss and two more composts - earthgro and some off brand, i cant remeber, but it was labled humus and manure. I also had a bag of Coast of Maine (at whole foods) and counted it as number five.
Heres the finished product(well, the trellis needs one more piece for the top, but almost finished). Thanks to all for e informative posts - I've been lurking for the last few weeks and learned tons (also have the book, don't worry!)
Okay it won't let me post pics from my iPad.willpost follow up on the pc tomorrow!

For the vermiculite data base: Use the US form button. Wardnwake will move it to the proper place.
