Very excited this morning, just watered my SFG and I think I have my first carrot seedling!

It's in the right spot and it's fresh MM so I'm pretty sure it's not a weed but I didn't expect them to sprout so quickly, it's only been a week!

How warm is your soil, ericam? Carrot seeeds can sprout in 6 or 7 days if your soil temp is 68 to 86 degrees F, so you may be right on schedule. My First Seedling! Carrot10
Seedlings start with two slender seed leaves, then the lacy looking true leaves (in the middle of the plant) come on later.

No idea on soil temp, I'm a complete newbie at this but our daytime temps have been 25-30 C so it probably is warm enough.

Just the two slender leaves at this point but they haven't separated yet. We had a 30C day yesterday and it definately wasn't there when I watered yesterday morning so it must have popped up through the day with the extra warmth.

It's been a cool and very wet summer in Sydney this year so the seed must have enjoyed yesterday as much as the rest of us! Laughing
