Howdy Ya'll

Been awile since I was able to post, been really busy. We have sold the lease on four 4' x 12' boxes, thats called (sfg csa) I will build these and fill this weekend with Mels mix

The spring crop of toms are all tranplanted into their boxes 90 plants of Trust and 144 better boy hybrids

We finished another four 1' x 10' boxes in the greehose for additional spring tomatoes.

The seedliings are all planted for the summer garden somewhere around 2000 seeds ranging from peppers , toms, egg plant, herbs, tomatillo, etc

Installed a 100 long x 50 wide 2" x 4" 3 feet tall welded wire fence around the garden to keep dogs and chickens out, we previously used deer net fence but I got tired of redoing it every year

Strawberry boxes 1-4'x10' and 2- 4x4 have been cleaned and thinned for spring crop

Onions have been planted in 4 -4x4 boxes

Lettuce going in one 4x 12 this weekend

Spring is in the air in NE Texas YAHOOOOOO

Happy gardening Ya'll

JB what\'s up, dude

Congrats on getting some CSA boxes sold. What type of veggies did you and the customers decide on?

From the look of your list, it appears your wife is still cracking the whip!

Hey Boffer,

No she traded the whip for a cat of 9 tails! ouch! The first csa box sold was rather hilarious. two retired couples come out and the men had cash in hand asking where do we paay, where do we pay. Apperantly the guys love to golf and last year their wives made them toil in the garden planting tomatoes all for not since they burnt up in the drought. So they were tickled to pay their due and not have to dig in the dirt.

The women wanted all tomatoes! when I explained that 48 sqaures of tomatoes could net from 480 to 960 lbs of tomatoes they opted to go with 24 sq of toms and we filled in the rest with varoius summer veggies and beneficial herbs.

The SFG CSA so far has been very enjoyable, I am waiting for competition between the subscribers to start as soon as the plants get going, even tho they dont do any of the work I am sure each will take credit for the prettyest garden plan

I will keep the csa status posted with picks

Jaybirds SFG Farm Staatus Update Feb_2810

Added a new fence to keep dogs, chickens, and other critters out

Jaybirds SFG Farm Staatus Update Feb_2811

4 ne 4x12 boxes currently leased to customers for CSA / SFG

Jaybirds SFG Farm Staatus Update Feb_2812

Switched from wood grid to wire grid,, used fence staples and electric fence wire

Jaybirds SFG Farm Staatus Update Feb_2813

The spring crop of tomatoes are looking good,

All the above were taken feb 28th just havent had time to post them, the toms now have the third tier of blooms and the first tier has set fruit,,, LW (Lovely Wife) will be planting and transplanting into garden today, mostly the cooler weather vegetables like cabbage , beets , etc. I am going to transplant some tom's outside and cross my fingers. I germinated about 200 more tom plants than I needed too! So Im not to worried if the weather cools off and I loose them, but if the temps hold I will have a great head start.

Happy Gardening!
