I am folically challenged in the upper departments .. not quite a boiled egg but getting there sooner rathter than later , if you know what I mean.
When Alison goes to the ladies hairdressers salon for her revitalization sessions .

I usually go with her and have one of the salons ladies run their fingers through my hair with wild abandonment just to hear them giggle & say " Dave soon we'll have to charge you just for the hire of the chair ".

Against this back ground of humour , I decided to ask for a trash bag of hair clippings for my worms.
I wouldn't say I was made the centre of ridicule ,but being told the chemist sold stuff for that sort of problem , kind of made me just that wee bit closer.

When we eventually stopped laughing & joking , I explained about my finding a big ball of brandling worms eating chopped horsehair whilst I was waist deep in a massive pile of horse manure ( cue for more inane laugher Wink ) & that on opening up my own compost pile to aireate it , I discovered similar worms eating composting dog hair that had been emptied out of the suction cleaner waste tub .

Again more hilarious laughter ensued when I asked if I could blag a big bag of human hair for my newly made worm composter . ( Was I making it a wig /toupee? )

Eventually I got one , a really big one with a weeks worth of hair clippings in it. Laughing
Today I've fed the worms with hair , kitchen fresh veg waste and some cold teabags . Even with the temps hovering around freezing point the worms are active & I do believe are actually reproducing.

The red compost worms in the raised beds are still alive despite being entombed in 8 inches ( 200 mm ) of frozen MM for nearly three weeks .
I thawed a bit that held four worms on view on a plastic dustpan in the kitchen , within four hours they were on the move.

It seems they must have some form of antifreeze in them which to me makes sense as they live by eating surface level rotting vegetation etc not going down and eating deep down like the other worms .
