Hello from West Virginia
Hi group,
I'm coming to you live from Wild and Wonderful West Virginia. I have moved to a place in my life where I want to garden again, but we're used to the large row type garden where the birds and deer take quite a bit of it. These days, we want to harvest more than we give to the wildlife. :-)
So, we've chosen to try this method and are quite excited about it.

Welcome to the forum VintageHippie
Have you had a chance yet to read the book All New Square Foot Gardening?
It's one of our most useful and widely referenced tools here on the forum. It's a quick, fun, and info packed

SFG Book
I have one of the first editions right now with a more updated version on order right now. I also have been in contact with my county extension agent who is VERY helpful and supportive in this endeavor.

Glad to have you join us. I miss WW WV. Used to visit family there, but now we are on the left coast and don't get back too often.
The first edition of Square Foot Gardening was very informative and I read it and used the older method. Once you read ALL NEW SQUARE FOOT GARDENING, you will see what the ALL NEW is about. No double digging, almost no weeds. I love it.
While you are waiting for your new book to appear, feel free to check around the forum. One thread that is especially helpful for new members is MELS MIX it further explains how to make great Mel's Mix, which truly is the heart and soul of your SFGng.
Keep us posted on your progress and please do no hesitate to ask questions.
