CHAT Saturday Night August 21, 2010
This is a call for a non-hosted CHAT for Saturday night the 21st of August 2010 at about 7 PM Eastern Time U.S. Earlier if you guys and gals want to start earlier. I will be on at about 7.
Unlike last Saturday's CHAT that was "free form" with no set subject other than SFGing this Saturday nights CHAT will be a little more focused with the subject of FALL GARDENING in the Square Foot Garden. So bring your thoughts, questions and answers to a live SFG CHAT with the usual band of of Square Footers new and not so new. Just know that all are welcome.
At last weeks CHAT we had Square Footers from all over the globe. LeFee joined the chat from France. Other chaters were from Canada, New Zealand, and from the U.S. we had folks from as far south as Florida and as far north and west as Washington State. We had a blast. One person on the chat was multitasking. Chating and making raspberry jam and putting the kids to bed all at the same time.
For those not familiar with the Square Foot Garden Forum CHAT the following is submitted.
A non-hosted CHAT is a chat that can be on any subject concerning Square Foot Gardening that the chaters want to talk about and topics range far and wide or the CHAT may have an announced subject. One time we had "Strawberries" as an announced subject. This Saturday's will be Fall Gardening. You can expect the subject to vary as questions arise or we just want to say something about something else, even if it is not about SFGing!
On the other hand a HOSTED CHAT is a called chat that has someone from the Square Foot Gardening Foundation lead the chat and talk about what they do at the foundation. We could even have a HOSTED CHAT with someone from another area of gardening. Put your thinking hats on and see what you can come up with.
To get to the CHAT function of this website log in per normal and then click on the Chat function that is located on the green bar at the top the page and then log on to the CHAT itself. You can pick a color for your print to show and that helps others follow who is talking. Also you have limited time between your entries on the chat or you will be automatically logged out. This is a function of the software and we cannot adjust it. If you do happen to log out it is not a problem, just make an entry and you are back in.
Anyone can call for or announce a chat at anytime. It can be announced several days in advance or at the drop of a hat. So if you guys want more CHATS get on the Forum and announce one.
God Bless, Ward and Mary.

I bought 5 pounds, I think I need to go back and buy another sack.
And speaking of the squash... I'm making pickles tonight, and it would appear that one of these crazy things is good for at LEAST 5 pints worth.

Being logged into the forum isn't enough. You have to click the log in button at the top right of the chat box (no password required). That's just the way it is.

Re: CHAT Saturday Night August 21, 2010
Nobody has said anything about one.
At this time, there are no guidelines or protocols for calling for a chat. It's assumed that the person who calls for one will show up! I think that a chat that is announced in advance, will be of more interest to folks if there is a topic to talk about. A topic can be specific or general, and you don't have to be an expert to name a topic.wardinwake wrote:Anyone can call for or announce a chat at anytime. *coff*
I wasn't in France for the last two chats. I was at my mom's in Florida, so the time worked better!
I'll try to drop by, but it's so late/early here when the chats start, that it's really hard for me to be coherent enough to be a part of the discussion!
