How readily does dill reseed???
I am thinking I have a SFG that is going to be dill from here on out. I have NEVER been able to get dill to grow and planted half a box of it along with my spinach and lettuce this spring. The dill went crazy this summer but a lot has gone to seed because I was so sick of making pickles. I have collected at least a cup of dill seed and the MM in the box is covered in thousands of dill seeds. Do you think I am ok just letting nature take it's course next spring if I leave the bed alone if I want the dill to grow?

Re: How readily does dill reseed???
The biggest treat last year was fresh dill and fresh dill heads for pickling. I had A LOT of dill also and it thrived. Lots of the dill just dried on the plant and when I pulled them out, lots and lots of seed fell to the soil. That said, I did not plant that box this summer and I had no dill come back. I was shocked. So never fear, you are safe.

Chopper's experience with dill was the opposite of mine. Last year, I had three huge Mammoth Dill plants. I couldn't eat it all, so it went to seed. I harvested many of the seeds.
Few dill plants sprouted in the immediate vicinity of last year's plants, but many grew several feet away to the south. Beats me!

If un impeded dill reproduction would make rabbits look like nuns.
