Lowes deal Empty Lowes deal

Okay, this isn't vegetables, but it's a great deal.I can't guarantee you'll get it either. But,me and my wife went to Lowes tonight,I always look at the clearance rack in the garden center.I picked up 2 unmarked plants and took them to the register to get a price. As the cashier was figuring it out,the manager asked if I was buying more of them.I said it depends on the price, she said I can sell you the whole rack for 10 bucks.I said done. She said they sell by the rack to get rid of them by fall. So,

Ended up with 74 assorted colors of garden club daylilies(originally 10 bucks each)

11 Stella Doro daylilies(originally 6.60 each)

2 hibiscus trees(originally 34.95 each)

Roughly $876 worth of stuff for 10 bucks, all green and alive and healthy too.Check it out and ask about buying racks,I've bought by the rack before and saved a fortune.

Kev what a score!! Guess what, Day Lillies are edible here is an exerpt from the article at sfgate.com entitled

Having your flowers and eating them too / The lovely daylily an edible delight

"I discovered that all parts of the plant -- the sprouting leaves that appear in the spring, the summer buds and blossoms, the leaves and even the rhizomes -- are edible. When I began to think of the daylily as a charming, perennial vegetable, I immediately found a sunny spot for it.

Considered a delicacy by wild food gatherers and knowledgeable chefs, the daylily has a long history in Chinese medicine and cuisine. It was originally brought to America by early settlers, who revered it not only for its ease of transport across the seas and its success in alien soil but also for its nourishing food as well. It can be dined on for months."

So they are vegetables just like my purslane and hibiscus.Wink You can read the whole thing at http://articles.sfgate.com Good thing you have that big jeep.
