Re: WOW what a rain storm
My morning started with serious rain. As soon as I set out the rain gauge and opened the SFG top the sky turned blue. Wind is still impressive so more rain could be on the way.
Sorry about your nerves!
Deborah …..hoping to get a good half-inch sprinkle without needing to put the hose away

It still hasn't started here yet... just a light drip here and there... but it's supposed to rain all night and into tomorrow.choksaw wrote:i dont know about the rest of you but i woke up this morning with plans to do some more work on my garden and it was a down pour so bad here in fact that i had to check the news to make sure we didnt have a premature hurrican comeing in (nervous now about hurricanes lol) anybody else have bad weather by them?

Now I'm digging trenches in my yard to drain the water away from my SFG.

Re: WOW what a rain storm
We are having record rain in RI. I have been trying to get my Mel's mix fixings for a week but everytime I have a chance the garden center is closed due to weather
I should be able to get something done by mid-summer. UGH!
Thankfully I have the boxes made I just have to make the mix and get things planted.

It rained and SNOWED hard all day here. We should be famous for our wind too. Had to keep both hands firmly on the wheel driving. Guess its the start of our April showers.

They are declaring a state of emergency here in Rhode Island. I believe Obama himself will be stopping by to check it out. All I know is this crap is really interfering with my gardning! The only place I can find vermiculite. Is under water at the moment
Any helpful hints? Or good nerve "recipes"

I wondered who was in RI (we are even hearing about it in the Wild West!) I was going to suggest Chamomile-Lavender tea with a shot of Jack, but you probably shouldn't be THAT calm in a flood. So the season is delayed a bit, even floods come to an end. You sound like a big-hearted person who does for others. I bet you are going to be WAY busy when the water recedes. The Garden will happen and you will comfort others while chatting about vermiculite and the President in barn boots.
Deborah ....God 'bless auntij (take pics for me would ya?!?)

auntij wrote:Well the rain has stopped and we have started to dry up a little bit (after 16 plus inches of rain in March). I was able to set up one box this week and hope to have the other 3 done very soon. Here is a picture of the mouth of the Pawtuxet River which was over 11 feet over flood level.
You win.

there USED to be docks all along there they are now out in the Atlantic Ocean. One of our clients lives very close to this and said he watched 45ft boats sailing along with their docks still attached. Brings new meaning to "So you had a bad day".

SNOW in Idaho! Lots of it.
I was so excited to plant my garden this weekend. Bought my vermiculite and peat moss and it has been snowing this week. Woke up this morning to what looked like four inches. Most of it melted today but man, windy and cold! Arg!
