Re: Scott's First SFG
It all looks WONDERFUL!!! I really like the fence around the box. Luckily, the only critters I have to be concerned about here are squirrels, which could easily jump the fence, and my mini dachshund puppy (11 wks.) who likes to DIG!! So far, the squirrels have left my boxes alone. Can't say so much for my digger. Had to replant a few marigolds. I'm sure that the bungee cords are related, but how exactly do you get into your box to work/harvest?

The barrels were sourced from a local post on CraigsList. Paid $15 each. The 3/4" pipe and tubing were all sourced from the local home center. The rain diverter that makes it all work is made by Rain Reserve. Its a little pricey ($50ish), but its worth it. I found it for a good price on eBay. The thing I like about it is that when the barrels are full and water backs up the tube the "extra" water just runs down the down spout like normal. There is no reason to have an "open" barrel where bugs or other garage could get it. It's a no worry system that won't end up flooding the area around the barrels if I get to much rain. I only wish I had the space to do add more barrels. Also, I'm only collecting water from the back half of a two car garage. This is enough to keep the barrels full most of the time.

The side panels are all 100% removable. Just need to pull two pins on each and they lift out. The bungee like cords are just there to help hold the sides to one another for some stability. I have plans to add a trellis, but haven't had the time to make it yet.
