Drowned tomatoes? HELP.
I transplanted a tomato plant to a larger container a week ago because the original container was a bit too small, but I forgot to unplug the drain holes on the bottom of the new container. I've watered it a couple of times and that plant now is looking PATHETIC . I don't think it can survive. It is DROOPY, yellow and looks like it is on its last legs which sucks.
Any suggestions on how I can save it? There are at least 8 tomatoes on it currently, but none of them are ripe enough to pick.
I am considering transplanting it to one of my 4x4 boxes, trimming all the dead branches and hoping for the best. Any thoughts are welcome. Thanks.

Tomatoes are tough - give it a try in the box! they don't like their roots messed with, so be careful with the roots when you pull it out of the pot.

Thanks Goose! (Reminds me of the movie Top Gun)
I'll give it a shot. Sorry you were killed in the movie when you ejected into the windshield.

Re: Drowned tomatoes? HELP.
I would drill drain holes in if I had a helper to lean the pot one way while I drilled holes to let it drain Let it drain and dry a bit

Re: Drowned tomatoes? HELP.
@TBites - I drained the water from the plant yesterday and it REAKED something serious.
The plant is not looking good and may need to be shot and put out of my misery.
What's the story with the stench?

Take a look a this thread https://squarefoot.forumotion.com/t7496-dying-tomato-plant-bad-weed-cloth
I posted an update on that thread. If the link on that thread doesn't work, google denitrifying bacteria and waterlogged soil.
Cheers

Re: Drowned tomatoes? HELP.
I'd go ahead and pick off the green tomatoes, whether or not you transplant. That will allow the plant to concentrate its resources on recovery. The green tomatoes are delicious sliced, dredged in cornmeal and pan-fried, or they will ripen sitting on the counter.
