Saw the most umm....creative..garden

Post  milaneyjane on 6/3/2011, 6:54 pm

Our town has a community garden across from our school and today I took the opportunity to walk through and look at all the creative gardening ideas that people have. I loved all the by the ideas and initiative the gardeners had taken, including the ones that were quite obviously first time gardeners. Then I came along a garden that I was sure was a seasoned gardener. At first I was impressed looking at how the gardener had made raised rows about 6-8 inches wide with deep trenches. Ooooh, I thought, here is a gardener doing some intense gardening. And then I saw the last three rows. The gardener had planted tomato plants about every 8 inches on both sides of the row for a total of 30 plants in a 15 foot row. And two more identical rows right next to it. There was only about 12 inches between rows. By my rough calculations there appeared to be 90 tomato plants in a 3 foot by 15 foot section!!!!!!! affraid That definately gives intensive gardening a new meaning. I was almost tempted to leave a note, LOL! I will be watching this garden carefully this summer Laughing

You will have to take a picture of this for us please. I'd like to see this wall of tomatoes.

Petals--- I was thinking the same thing, LOL! I might go snap one tomorrow and post again later this summer another when the tomatoes have consumed the rest of the community garden.

Wow. How will they ever get in to harvest? I'd love to know what they plan to do with them.
