i bought these bean seeds at my childrens school plant sale and can not remember what kind they are.....i remember they said they were rare.....i think they said they get purple flowers on them....that is the main reason i got them...i thought purple flowers would be nice......they said you can eat the whole pod when they are young...like in stir fry....but when they get bigger you are to shell them.....my daughter thought they said the were racing beans.....i want to know so i know how to cook them....when we harvest some....well...we havent even planted them yet...ha ha ha.....

anyone know?

They look kind of like Scarlet Runner Beans but those have red flowers and a variety of colors in the seeds. Some of them look almost right though. Hmmm...

all of the beans were the same color in the jar.....

the darker ones in your pic look like them.....hmm....

I vote for Scarlet Runner Beans. They look exactly like the ones I have been planting today.

i think that is what they are too....on google i havent found a purple flower yet....only red....so we will see when they bloom....red will be pretty too!

I don't, but you certainly can to speed up germination. It's nice and warm here and I kept the squares moist and the beans sprouted in 6 or 7 days. I think either way is fine.

I soaked mine for about half an hour to an hour. The first round sprouted in about 7 days, the second batch sprouted in 4. Be sure to post pics so we get to see them!
