Neighborhood rabbits Evil or Very Mad

Seriously though, my whole family enjoys eating the food we grow, although the kids are more helpful with the growing aspect than hubby.

Oh! I wish I had seen this thread earlier. My 3yo just helped me harvest some lettuce and spinach for our first salad of the season. I added some thinly sliced radishes from the SFG and some cucumber from the farm. The kids gobbled it up! Even the radishes!

Quote from my 4yo nephew:
"Auntie Kim, these radishes are a little bit good with the white sauce (ceasar dressing) on them."

Next time I'll take pics! I get the feeling we'll be eating a lot of salads over the next little while. The kids LOVE salad. cheers

Earwigs and striped cucumber beetles have found a happy home in my garden. Thankfully the toad is back and the wrens and robins thoroughly love dining here. The fence keeps out the rabbits but had to scat a darn cat who was creeping up on my birds. Besides that the usual kids, friends and neighbors honk, wave and smile more frequently than any other time of the year. Everybody in town asks how my garden is doing. Guess they must enjoy talking about it.

Last night, a looper enjoyed my lettuce. I finally pulled the lettuce and the spinach out. Will replant it when we get closer to fall. When we were kids, we'd call those inch worms, I called it some thing else this morning, lol.

Our Guinea pig. I planted a square of parsley for her. She also LOVED the carrot tops of the few I was able to harvest.

The kids love the garden here. My 2 year old daughter is notorious for pinching off anything growing and trying it. Fresh broccoli - check. Peas - check. Strawberries? check. Onion greens - check.

The 8 year old can't keep his mitts off the strawberries, but who can blame him.

We are all waiting anxiously to see how the squash and watermelon do.
