Tomato Megablooms
So I like playing with my food. Yes, I like seeing those mega monster tomato blooms and I like watching them grow into ugly monster tomatoes.
If you have some ugly tomato megablooms and tomato monsters, I would love to see them.
Just because I am a tomato freak.
I haven't taken many pictures ===just a few.
A megabloom that ended up being 3 fused blossoms = which will be 3 fused tomatoes= making a big ugly tomato.

the first pic is on a Brandywine Sudduth Strain.
The second pic is on a Brandywine.
This pic is on a Brandywine.
It seems to be two fused tomatoes--?? possibly 4= to me it looked like two fused tomatoes fused with another two.. 2doubles fused. I didn't take a pic of the stem---it is two huge stems fused together.

Re: Tomato Megablooms
How fun! Brandywine seems to be prone to that, isn't it? I tried to grow one last fall (succumbed to disease before I could get fruit) and it did the same thing!

Re: Tomato Megablooms
I''ve always wondered what to call those.
When I get them, it looks like I accidently planted a sunflower seed.
It only happens once-in-a-while, but I end up getting mad/fustrated that I picked up a mis-labled transplant, or I've stumbled across a new tomato variety ....LOL

Re: Tomato Megablooms
Beefsteak variety tomatoes are popular for Megablooms.
And most of the time it is normally the first few on the vine.
The rest tend to be large or normal.
I love playing with Brandywines and Beefmaster. I have many mega tomatoes
growing and it's going to be a very interesting year===if all goes well with no diseases or fungus.
I had a few Pineapples to get pretty big in the past too, just not as ugly.
I have also tried growing the Delicious= the same one that holds the world record tomato.
Acara=====they remind me of sunflowers too and so pretty.
After my mega toms get big and near ripening stage===I give them names.

Re: Tomato Megablooms
Ooooooooooooh. So that's what I saw on my Cherokee Purples. I went back a while later, and the blooms were normal. So then I was confused. I was sure I had seen a couple of huge blossoms.
So now I guess I need to look for Ugly Monster Tomatoes!
