Howwwwdy!!! from Oklahoma
Hello everyone,
I am located in NE Oklahoma about 45 miles east of Tulsa. We have 5 acres but only mow an area of about 2 acres.
This year will be my first shot at SFG, I was raised on a dairy farm and we had 2 large gardens, one at our house and one at my grandparents.
I am no longer to garden with a row type garden as I have been in a wheelchair for the last 17 years. I am waiting for it to warm up just a tad before I build my boxes (according to the weather channel it should be this week). I am able to get in and out of the wheelchair and work on my knees. I am also able to bend over from my chair so should be able to work a raised bed easy enough.
I am sure I will make plenty of mistakes, but learn from them. I am actually debating if I want to do a 3 x 3 or a 4 x 4. Really want to do the 4 x 4 but not sure how easy it will be to reach the middle from the chair. BTW it is a power chair.
Guess that is enough rambling for this time.
God Bless

Welcome! Enjoy the new technique! It isn't warm enough in OK yet? I lived in Wichita as a kid and remember it being HOT there--figured by now you'd be eating peas

Slim,
Have you looked into table top gardens? Mel mentions them in his ALL NEW SQUARE FOOT GARDENING BOOK, but we have several members that have actually built them. They can be adjusted for height and your own personal needs.
We have even had members that built their SFG beds and placed them on cinder blocks, sawhorses and tables.
Here are links to several threads on Table Tops.
