Re: Here I am in Robinson Illinois, giving my SFG class
Good for you, Josh! So glad it went really well.
You are an inspiration. Looking forward to hearing, in more detail, what you presented and how it went.

Hey Josh, good luck with the class. I know you'll do well.
Read the article your Mom submitted about her gardening son in "Gardening How-To" and it was fabulous. I think you have a great future in the garden world.
Someday I hope to read a book you've written.
Great going!
Congratulations!
By the way, I hope you start a blog soon so I can follow your gardening adventures.

So, how did it go? What type of presentation was it? What did you cover?

Re: Here I am in Robinson Illinois, giving my SFG class
I think it went really well, I had a table set up to answer questions the rest of the day and a lot of people came by and talked with me and asked me questions and gave me a lot of compliments. They asked me for my autograph! I had more offers to do more presentations.
They said they wanted it to be very informal, to use pictures of my families SFGs, and talk about them. It was at the collage and the room was really big, like being in a theater. There was 375 people signed up to be there. The room started off about 1/2 full at the start and was full by the time we were done. My mom was with me, she did most of the talking at the presentation, but I did some too. We made a power point using our own SFG photos, we based the slide show on the 10 Major improvements Mel listed in his book. We had SFG photos of each of those things and then we just talked about those things as each picture came up. After that we showed harvest pictures, they really liked the one of me eating that big blackberry! We had the picture of me with my Ipod planning this years garden, they liked that too. We told them about the SFG web site and told them about the forum and to look for me here, they asked me what my sign in name was so they could find me, maybe someone who was there will post.

Josh, that is absolutely fantastic! Congratulations. Public speaking is always a little nerve-wracking, but getting that first one under your belt makes a huge difference--and so does talking about something you really love, so it's all downhill from here! *hugs*
Re: Here I am in Robinson Illinois, giving my SFG class
So glad everything went well.
I absolutely agree with Megan. Glad you got those offers for more presentations. That was a great way to make your first presentation, taking the 10 steps and making a power point to demonstrate. It must have made it easier to discuss, since you had pictures of your own garden.
Again, Great Job!
