Hello From Oklahoma!!!
I am so excited to get my new Square foot gardnes off of paper and into the yard. I have been SFG for about 5 years now and would garden no other way!! We just bought our home in Oct of 2010 and have some really great plans this year for our new gardens. We are putting in over 588 Sq Ft in new boxes. we are growing everything organically this year and all from hierloom seeds. So excited to bring it all togather. I am about ready to start sprouting broccoli, cauliflower, brussel Sprouts, cabbage and tomatoes in a week or 2. I would love to connect with any other square foot gardeners here in Oklahoma....pics of last years gardens coming and pics of this years coming....JER

We are looking forward to your pictures of last year and hope you will include some of your construction pictures from this year too.

Yeah! You are close to me even! Hi there neighbor. I'm just down the road a few miles to the west. Just past Firelake Grand Casino. I'm building more boxes this month and drooling over seed catalogs while I wait for spring. Let me know if you need compost come spring, as my compost pile is cooking nicely now. I think I'm going to have to start a second one soon, 2 wheelbarrows a day of manure really starts to add up. But anyway, welcome to the list and glad to see you here!

Hello from Oklahoma!
I'm a new gardener -- and have put in 2 raised garden beds this spring. I have one large bed, 4 ft W X 8 ft L X 1 ft D, and one small bed, 4ft W X 4 ft L X 1 ft D. In the larger one I'm trying to grow carrots, mexculen lettuces, bell peppers, cucumbers, okra, green beans, tomatoes, and yellow straight neck squash. In the smaller bed, I'm trying to grow herbs like parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme, chives, basil, oregano and cilantro. I'm not sure how my garden is doing, but with all the rain we've had, should I let it dry out a day or two in-between watering? Is it necessary to water everyday? Please advise.

Hi I'm new here and to SFG!
I I'm in Blackwell, Ok...I35 North almost to Kansas. I am just starting to plan my garden! I hope this all goes well and we have a milder summer this year. I have two 4X8 ft beds and am wanting to plant about 6-8 tomato plants...so I am thinking I'd like them all in a row then build one of those conduit/net trellises he talks about and make all the plants border one edge. But which one??? The North or South? My two beds are in a row...running east and west with about 3 feet between them. I'm sure when summer hits the shade for the other plants might be a good thing so I was thinking south side. Any thoughts? Then for the other bed I was going to put cucumbers and beans with an identical trellis. Then plant shorter things in the other squares.

I water depending on rain. if it rains alot i don't water for 3 days or so. if it is a light rain i either go ahead and water or if it is enough to get the plants wet i wait till at least the next day depending on the heat. if it is real hot i water the next day.
