help! christmas light in hoop house
I'm trying to find the pics of the covered boxes heated with the big bulb Christmas lights. And would also like to know if they are standing up to the job. Found a string of lights today and am wondering if I can use here is 7b

Re: help! christmas light in hoop house
I've got some quite old Christmas lights (small ones) that seem to be doing very well for me. They are outdoor lights, of course. They have been on 24/7 since we got our first cold snap last month. They keep the underplastic areas at least 7 degrees warmer than outside. Daytime temps will be warmer, since they get sun. First thing am temps are almost always at least 7 degrees warmer, sometimes 10-12. I'm sure that's a factor of wind pulling heat away from the plastic quicker.

Hey Odd Duck !!!
I have done the xmas light thing to extend the season. If you type "winterizing" in the search box, you will find two threads that I have started on the subject. One has a link to my flickr account with pictures. This will also give you an idea of the temp difference I was able to achieve. Worked really well. Still going. Let me know if I can help out with any questions you might have.
