Hi there. Greetings on this beautiful sunny Colorado morning.

While I'm not new to SFG (in fact I now own all three books!) but I have only really dabbled in it. I've got the grids now, though, so 2011 is the year!

I have a relatively large garden of raised beds which are now a mix of soil and compost, after 5 years. Gardening at 6300' can be really tricky, especially with lots of deer running around. We have "protected" our garden with an 8 ft. plastic grid fence for the last few years, which has made a big difference. We often get a late frost, so Memorial Day is our put-the-tomatoes-in-date, assuming walls-of-water go in too. Cool nights (lucky if we get a night over 60 degrees) make it tough for tomatoes though. We can also get an early snowfall in mid-September so it's a pretty short growing season. This year we had a really long fall, so our big successes were basil and raspberries (not SFG, but in a raised bed).

Anyway, thanks for setting up the forums and I look forward to reading lots more. Happy Gardening!

Welcome Walkabout:

Gardening at any altitude can be a challange and and higher elevations even more so. We are looking forward to seeing posts from you on what works up there in the clouds.
