Which Ball Blue Book
I've searched all the referenced post here & everyone mentions Ball Blue Book ... but Amazon is making my head spin!!
Which Blue book? Is one better than the others?
Guide to Preserving
Canning Book
Guide to Home Canning and Freezing
Complete Book of Home Preserving
100th Anniversary Edition
...and thats just the most current revisions
Any recommendations appreciated.
(p.s. kinda disappoining these aren't available as e-books, Kindle or iPad-freindly)

Re: Which book?
Acara, the guide I use is called the _Ball Blue Book Guide to Preserving_ but most people just call it "The Ball Blue Book". The most recent edition is 2009 which was the 100th anniversary edition of the book.
You can get it on the Ball website for $5.99 plus shipping, or find it in a local store and save the shipping.

Re: Which Ball Blue Book
I have the 100th Anniversary Edition too. Congrats, Acara! This is my first year of canning and I'm so excited about it. (I just got a whole pound of mustard seed in the mail! It cost only a few cents more than one of those little supermarket tiny jars, too....)
Re: Which Ball Blue Book
Thanks.
I knew I had to get updated.
My Grandmother taught me how to can/pickle/preserve & I did it for years with her until she passed.
Unfortunately I picked up a lot of bad habits (they were "best practice" 20-50 years ago ...LOL) & figured I need to get current before I poison myself.
Fortunately, I'm just looking to make pickles at this point .... so the high-acid should save me from any old habits I accidently slip into the process.
I'm about halfway through the book & I must have said "Oh crud, we used to do that" about a dozen times (the sections where it says, make sure you DONT do this) ...opsie
Funny story though .... I had to get some medical stuff done today, so I left work early & picked up a copy of the blue book on the way to the DR. I was in the lobby waiting for appt & you wouldnt believe the looks a 40-year old male in a business suit, reading a canning book gets ...LOL
