Which is why I LOVE SFG!

This little city girl gone country had a very sweaty afternoon. UGH....

Went and picked up 6 tractor tires FOR FREE from a tire shop...these will be my flower planters next spring. Smile

THEN I came home and cut down a row of shrubs that I hate and are holding back the expansion of my SFG for NEXT spring. WHEW!!! Sweating, and chopping, and getting filthy and the bugs under these shrubs...ARG!!!! GROSS!!!

I tell you...if you are a spoiled little city girl that has OCD and doesnt like to WORK in your garden...SFG is for YOU! ROFL!!! rock on

I would have never made it a whole season row gardening...oh no...to whimpy here.

LOVE SFG!

Howdy MM:

I was born in the country and was pushing a lawn mower when I was so small it took my brother and I to both push at the same time to get it to move. To this day I don't like yard work, but, I do love SFG.

God Bless, Ward and Mary.

The good part about yardwork and getting really messy is getting cleaned up afterward, plus that glorious feeling of accomplishment. But hopefully the cleaning-up involves a lovely bath... (lovely beverage, lovely massage, someone else cooking for you.... you get the drift!) Laughing But thank goodness SFG doesn't require much yardwork! (Now you have to find another excuse to get really messy... Wink )

I don't mind the yard work so much in the spring or fall, but we've just had the most abominable week, weather-wise -- you could practically wring water out of the air, it was so humid and hot! And there's SO much work to be done. We have a lot of in-ground flower gardens plus an asparagus bed, and by late August weeds and bloody invasive bermuda grass suddenly seem to be out of control. Then there are salvias and various other plants that need to be cut back and fertilized because they will continue to bloom for at least another two months. So I've been out there somewhat, wacking and thwacking, digging, pulling, and cussing. The weather is a little cooler and dryer today, and I just hope it stays like this for the weekend!

Okay, Megan, I won't tell you! HOLY FREAKING COW BATMAN...I HATE YARDWORK!!!! Icon_razz

But seriously, salvia is so forgiving that I usually just take a pair of hedge clippers, wack off the top 6" or so and throw a bucket of worm compost around the base, followed by a bucket or two of chopped leaves. That usually takes care of it until frost, and I love to see it blooming all during the autumn!

The truly painful work is pulling up the @#$%^ bermuda grass! Not to mention that we have a flowering quince with thorns at least 1" long. I do my best to mulch and keep the area under it weed-free, but the bermuda grass always snakes its fell way in. HOLY FREAKING COW BATMAN...I HATE YARDWORK!!!! Icon_evil Time to get out the band-aids!

Speaking of snakes, we have one. It appears to be a young black racer -- not poisonous, but although it eats insects, it will also eat toads, so the jury's still out on whether we really want it there.

I'll have to give it a shot. Smile I've cut back the bee balm twice already... I have quite the bee garden going on, though I haven't seen so many lately.

Are you serious? what kind of dream world do you live in? I come in from working in the yard, nurse the baby, make dinner, maybe get a shower, maybe not, etc., while hubby plays video games. cyclops

I hope you truly appreciate your situation! I love my hubby. just for the record.

Mine plays video games, too. The bit about him cooking surely IS a dreamworld. He can barely put a pizza in the oven -- last time he tried, he halfway burned it. Laughing He can be convinced to do massages, though. Smile

Mine will try, sometimes. Of course -- speaking of pizza -- the last time he put one in the oven, he forgot to remove the cardboard from the bottom. It was an interesting culinary experience. tongue

But he makes great London broil and burgers, and he's much better than I am at oriental cooking. So I guess I'll keep him.

He's not as much into gardening and yard work, either, but he will join me at times and then we REALLY get stuff done! That extra pair of hands makes such a difference.

Can't remember the last time my hubby gave me a massage or cooked a meal...the rule in our house is there are no video games unless we play together...which means he doesnt get to play very often.

I like the LEGO video games...both the kids went to grandparents for a few weeks this summer and we actually had a little time to play. We finished LEGO Indiana Jones...Smile
