I was wishing for watercress last night, when it finally dawned on me that I had something even better on hand... nasturtiums! (My soil is apparently too rich, so I've only gotten one bloom from two plants so far, but the leaves are great, too.)

Open-face sandwich with cream cheese, smoked salmon, and nasturtium leaves! (Just after taking this picture I piled on more leaves, but by then I was much too hungry to take another picture.)

The nasturtiums are hot and peppery, but oh boy were they good on this!

Oh wow !! I didnt know the leaves were edible too !! I had the flowers in a salad thanks to my gramma, boy did that thought make me weepy, I remember going to her house as an adult for dinner, just her and I, we went out to the flowers and we picked the flowers together. I love my memories and thank her for the ideas!!

Thank you! I found the recipe here: http://smittenkitchen.com/2009/04/black-bread/. It's got a lot of ingredients, but it goes together easily.
