been going crazy keeping track of what seeds were used when
But had an idea of a way to keep track of spring vs fall vs summer seeds. He mentioned placing them in jars in the refrigerator. I would just have spring, fall and summer jars in the fridge and have them all sorted it out ahead of time.
Also I like Mel's monthly tips videos. I will type up the main ideas and post them on my calender so I know what to do each month. Quick reminders. I am a visual person more than a audio.

I'm in the same pickle as you. Around here we use a lot of the same seeds for spring and fall, and I've gotten my collection all jumbled up. I'm going to organize them this weekend as I need to start some for the fall garden. Hard to talk of planting cool weather veggies when its 100+F outside!

I carry a small spiral notebk in my pocket and each time I sow seed in a square, I mark it in my notebk. I draw 9 squares (or my 9 raised beds) and mark them off in sqs and I number each bed one thru nine. Then when something goes in, I write it in the square with the date and whether its sds or plt (seedling plant). That way I can keep track of what is where.
This way I know if a veggie is coming early or is getting terribly late and also which variety I'm harvesting. It helps me make decisions for what plants do best and which to buy next year.
This small notebk is also a journal. I add dates, temps day and nite, rainfall, what was harvested, and anything else that might help.
If I have any questions, I can always check back in this small notebk. Its been very handy for me this year as opposed to last yr when I didn't keep one.
I also keep my seed packets in glass jars with dry milk wrapped in tissue to absorb any unwanted moisture. Toms and peppers in one jar, cool-weather seeds in another, herbs, flowers (like nasturtiums and marigolds), cover crops and warm-weather seeds other jars so I don't have to go thru all the jars when I want to plant something or start seeds. I also put the date I purchased the seed right on the packet so I know how old it is.
I've found that keeping organized is very helpful.

Re: been going crazy keeping track of what seeds were used when
I tried to organize my seeds by season but now have them organized by category -- veggies, herbs and flowers. Within category, they are alphabetic.
I have not been very organized about keeping track of what I plant. Usually, I just scribble it on a Popsicle stick and put it in the ground with the seeds. Doesn't work great but it is better then nothing. I like the idea of a notebook and have been thinking about a paper calendar to write notes on.
I also want to keep track of when things happen around my yard so I can start to read the signs of nature. I guess it is called Phenology (?) If I can learn to read nature, I might be able to more accurately time the planting in my garden.

Quiltbea, you are very organized! +1
I started out trying to keep track of everything, even started a blog... and I quickly found out that I had time to keep up with the garden, or the blog, but not both. My best record is all my photos on Picasa. I did try to keep notes on when some things were coming ripe, etc... but I am going to try to promise myself to keep much better records next year.
