Anyone know what this is? There was one hanging out near my cukes and one sitting on my honeydew. I poked it and it didn't want to move. I noticed the antennae fan out at the end into 3 sections kind of like a tree branch. I don't know if they are friends or foes. Thanks!

I have them as well and they are hungry little critters. I do not know what they are and I have not been able to locate any info.

It almost looks like this. It looks kinda like the first picture you posted. I could be totally wrong of course, and probably am. Hope it helps, if not, if you can get a better picture I can try to research some more, I don't work so I have plenty of time on my hands during the day/afternoon.

Oriental Beetle (Anomala orientalis): http://bugguide.net/node/view/416325#706576

The antler-like antennae reminded me of a Japanese Beetle and when I did a search for that on bugguide.net, I saw this one!

Yesss!!!! They are Oriental beetles! thank you so much. Apparently the adults don't cause damage, but it was probably these buggers who ate my spring crops when they were larvae. I'm still waiting on my backordered nemotodes, but it looks like now is the time to introduce them, while the adults are out laying eggs.
Thanks for the help!
