second year for blackberries
Just had to show off just one more thing. This is the second year for the blackberries,5 plants in a 4 x 4 SFG. Last year there was a couple of hands full of blackberries, this year, must be hundreds of them, just starting to turn black.
Big too!

Re: second year for blackberries
Very nice. What varieties do you have? I'm a bit surprised at the spacing as the ones I purchased recommended 4-6' between plants. I thought I was crowding them by planting 3-1/2' apart in a row. Maybe I'll add another row next year.

I love berries of all types! I am trying to grow some and it is like pulling teeth. Love that you did this in a SFG.

Awesome.
My 2nd year and all my berry plants died. Sadly they died in the last week or so and they can't be reshipped til spring.
Thinking of cheating and getting a blackberry from home depot just so the box isn't empty.

Re: second year for blackberries
The blackberries just keep getting bigger and better! I've got a quart of them so far and the bushes are loaded with red ones.

Josh,
Your posts always seem to make me hungry! My kids and I are going to try the zucchini pie this afternoon. Blackberries will have to wait as we haven't planted any yet. Those look like a wonderful, big variety. Thanks for sharing!
