I don't have a lot of organic material available for composting. But my first SFG is finishing up, so I have quite a few vines. Naturally the leaves have powdery mildew. Would it be ok to compost these? The mildew itself seems to come via the air, not the ground, and in theory a hot compost would "cook" the fungi in the leaves.

I compost them, Mark, and have never had a problem.  I haven't had a problem with powdery mildew for years, since learning to spray plants with compost tea, but back when I did have it the plants were composted without problems. I used trimmers to cut the plants into small pieces before composting, and they composted quickly.

I don’t.  But mine have PM and SVB damage by the time I pull them.

I don't but mine have PM and red spider mites and are so ugly I just want to get rid of the nasty, prickly things. What a Face

OG, thanks for the article.
