TD, I hope procedures go smoothly from here on. Will you be on injections, only, or is there another pill with different secondary ingredients? Can you give yourself the shots so you don't have to see a doctor just for them? I have been giving myself shots for years now. Rotating thighs and stomach.

No more pills for the time being as far as I know.  I had my first ADT injection this afternoon. The nurse said most people hardly feel anything and then as she prepared the monster she said do not look. I had already cheated and had watched the procedure on YouTube. I knew it was one big "needle" thing used to insert the slow release capsule under the skin in my belly fat. That thing felt like a burning hot nail going in and I am still feeling it. This process will be repeated every three months for at least two years. Joy oh joy.

I was feeling great physically before starting on the ADT treatments. Also spiritually great. Up until I made my treatment decision I was an emotional wreck but much better now. Just got back from my 3 kilometre fast paced (for me) walk.

The burning nail sensation only lasted about 30 minutes. All good today except a strange tired, spaced out feeling.

Had my first radiation treatment this morning at the Ottawa Hospital Cancer Center. This is a teaching and research hospital with great medical staff and equipment.

This is the bad boy that zapped my cancer cells.

The typical-of-a-hospital-blue-walls. Smile (Not that I dislike the colour.)
(In fact, I at least have a similar colour for the walls that were done not too long ago in my room.)

Hi TD,

That shot in the gut doesn't sound like fun, I'm just glad you don't have to have one every day. Thanks for the photo of the accelerator- those are huge beasts (sure look like they would spit out flames or sparks, but they just hum along and orbit around you). Once you get used to the alignment procedure it's just a matter of dropping your drawers and getting on with it.
I have a friend that is going through the exact treatment protocol as your's and he said the same thing about feeling a bit "spacey" too. He said he'd rather not drive, so I have given him a lift to the hospital for RT treatments, and they don't seem to phase him much.
Keep it up, and thanks for the updates, I'm pulling for you.

Thanks.

To add to my woes the radiation has caused me to have urinary problems. So now I am on medication for that. Been trying to do some work in the SFG but feeling quite lacking in energy.

You first, garden second. Do you have radiation on the weekends, also? If not, maybe the 2 days off will help you bounce back a bit.

(just heard Ken go out to the back yard so I better get off and supervise help him.

No radiation on we weekends to give the body some time to heal and maybe to give the medical staff time off.
