What Happened to the Bees & Buterflies?
Last Year I had quite a few around we always have a lot of butterflies, But this year I've only seen a few of the white ones that we don't want to see in the garden. I grow Lavender, Rosemary, and Bee Balm to draw them to the garden Even the Hornets are way down I only have one small nest It's around my water barrels I try not to bother them to much and so far they've done the same.

They are all over my squash flowers, as early as 6:30 am. They are in my flowering thymes, flowering Blue thimble flowers, flowering native Aster, and my borage. Hopefully your bees will come soon.

Re: What Happened to the Bees & Buterflies?
I have so few bees, and usually only one bumble bee each summer. If I didn't have syrphid flies, I wouldn't have enough pollinators. I think the scarcity is due to the facts that I live in a neighborhood zone where everyone has a pest control service and the native land is being developed for a couple of miles. Our lot is the only pesticide-free sanctuary.

Sanderson,
My neighbors on both sides use Round Up. Two volunteer Bachelor's Buttons nearest one of the properties suddenly wilted, although the others, so far, are fine.
I had trouble posting a caption to go with yesterday's photo. The front yard is replete with pollinator-attracting flowers, as well as grass with clover. The borage along the sidewalk is about to bloom.
On the north side of the house are raspberry and blackberry bushes that are currently buzzing with activity. Earlier, two of the three dwarf apple trees, plus the lilac thicket, did their part. I've seen four bumblebees so far this season, and numerous other types of pollinators.
A fellow from a local gardening group came by the other day to relieve me of some of my forest of Royalty Purple raspberry bushes. He's a large-scale type of gardener/farmer and is into soil-building, among other things. He commented that he'd been ignoring planting flowers and would have to remedy that situation for the sake of pollination in general. He (jokingly?) commented that my yard might almost qualify as an "urban legend." He also mentioned that he thought my 4' x 4' "corn field" was a bit tight.
But then, I've always loved flowers!

Here in Ontario, Canada there are pretty strict rules concerning pesticides and herbicides fir home use.

They might be in Ohio. We are good for bees. I haven’t seen any butterflies in my years, but I came close to hitting one in my car this week (yes, I brake for Monarchs)

We have both here, Monarchs and bees. The monarchs are beginning their migration!

Re: What Happened to the Bees & Buterflies?
We have had more Monarch's this year than usual, and a lot of the various Swallowtails. It has been so dry this summer, though, that I have had to keep a puddling tray out for them.
